A blood-pressure cuff exerts\r\n            pressure on the arm.\r\n        <\/p>\r\n\r\n        <p>\r\n            Usually, this effect is small and can be calculated.\r\n        <\/p>\r\n\r\n        <p class=\"qn-highlight\">\r\n            <i class=\"fas fa-atom\"><\/i>\r\n            In the quantum world, the interaction involved in\r\n            measurement may form an essential part of the phenomenon.\r\n        <\/p>\r\n\r\n        <hr class=\"qn-separator\">\r\n\r\n        <p class=\"qn-section-title\">\r\n            <i class=\"fas fa-question-circle\"><\/i>\r\n            Who Is the Observer?\r\n        <\/p>\r\n\r\n        <p>\r\n            In Quantum Physics, an \u201cobserver\u201d does not necessarily\r\n            mean a human being.\r\n        <\/p>\r\n\r\n        <p class=\"qn-point\">\r\n            <i class=\"fas fa-exclamation-circle\"><\/i>\r\n            It is not a gaze that emits a force, nor a consciousness\r\n            that commands a particle to change.\r\n        <\/p>\r\n\r\n        <p>\r\n            An observer may be:\r\n        <\/p>\r\n\r\n        <ul>\r\n            <li>A detector,<\/li>\r\n            <li>a photographic plate,<\/li>\r\n            <li>a screen,<\/li>\r\n            <li>another particle,<\/li>\r\n            <li>\r\n                or any part of the experimental apparatus that\r\n                interacts with the system and records information.\r\n            <\/li>\r\n        <\/ul>\r\n\r\n        <p>\r\n            The electron does not know that we are observing it.\r\n            It does not feel our gaze or change its behaviour\r\n            out of self-consciousness.\r\n        <\/p>\r\n\r\n        <p class=\"qn-highlight\">\r\n            <i class=\"fas fa-project-diagram\"><\/i>\r\n            It responds to a real physical interaction.\r\n        <\/p>\r\n\r\n        <hr class=\"qn-separator\">\r\n\r\n        <p class=\"qn-section-title\">\r\n            <i class=\"fas fa-flask\"><\/i>\r\n            The Question Shapes the Experiment\r\n        <\/p>\r\n\r\n        <p>\r\n            In the double-slit experiment, if the apparatus does not\r\n            record which slit the quantum object passed through,\r\n            interference may appear.\r\n        <\/p>\r\n\r\n        <p>\r\n            If we introduce a mechanism that records the path,\r\n            the interaction with that mechanism changes the\r\n            experimental conditions and the interference disappears.\r\n        <\/p>\r\n\r\n        <p class=\"qn-point\">\r\n            <i class=\"fas fa-lightbulb\"><\/i>\r\n            The electron did not change because a mind looked at it.\r\n        <\/p>\r\n\r\n        <p>\r\n            We changed the physical experiment in order to obtain\r\n            a different kind of information.\r\n        <\/p>\r\n\r\n        <p>\r\n            The question we choose determines which apparatus\r\n            we construct.\r\n        <\/p>\r\n\r\n        <p>\r\n            The apparatus determines which physical interaction\r\n            takes place.\r\n        <\/p>\r\n\r\n        <p class=\"qn-highlight\">\r\n            <i class=\"fas fa-wave-square\"><\/i>\r\n            And the interaction determines which phenomenon\r\n            can be recorded.\r\n        <\/p>\r\n\r\n        <hr class=\"qn-separator\">\r\n\r\n        <p class=\"qn-point\">\r\n            <i class=\"fas fa-brain\"><\/i>\r\n            <strong>Keep this in mind:<\/strong>\r\n        <\/p>\r\n\r\n        <p>\r\n            The observer does not create the world through thought.\r\n            The observer participates in the experiment by choosing\r\n            what will be measured and constructing the means through\r\n            which the measurement will occur.\r\n        <\/p>\r\n\r\n        <p>\r\n            Quantum Physics does not tell us:\r\n        <\/p>\r\n\r\n        <p>\r\n            <em>\u201cAs you look upon the world, so the world becomes.\u201d<\/em>\r\n        <\/p>\r\n\r\n        <p>\r\n            It tells us something more precise and equally wondrous:\r\n        <\/p>\r\n\r\n        <p class=\"qn-highlight\">\r\n            <i class=\"fas fa-question\"><\/i>\r\n            \u201cThe way in which you ask a physical question determines\r\n            which answer the experiment can give you.\u201d\r\n        <\/p>\r\n\r\n        <p>\r\n            <em>\r\n                In the image, the human figure symbolises the\r\n                questioning mind.
