🏛️ The Body of Thought
(How the brain “builds” thinking – or: how language becomes a wave of meaning)
- We do not think first and then speak We think with words. The brain doesn’t hold “pure concepts” that are later dressed in words. It holds images, sensations, and small movements of meaning. And the word comes to hold them together. The word is the mold that gives shape to the unformed.
- Thought is not a line — it is a wave Observe what happens inside you: A sensation is born; it swells (without a word yet); it finds its word; it stabilizes; and then… it flows again. This is a wave. And the word is the crest of the wave that becomes visible.
- Why the Greek language “elevates” you The Greek language:
- Has roots → providing depth.
- Has inflection (clisis) → providing freedom.
- Has nuances → providing precision. Without the word, not only is the expression lost — discernment is lost. And when we do not discern, everything becomes “the same,” everything becomes “vague,” everything becomes noise.
- The invisible violence of ambiguity There is a violence that is not seen. It does not shout. It does not strike. It is the violence of the undefined word. When I say:
- “I’m a mess” instead of “I am angry” or “I am disappointed.”
- “Something happened” instead of “I made a mistake.”
- “That’s how it is” instead of “I didn’t think it through.” Then, I am not just avoiding precision; I am avoiding the responsibility of thought.
- Precision is not strictness — it is care In Greek, words are many not for display, but because the world has nuances. Strength, Vigor, Valor, Might (Δύναμη, Σθένος, Αλκή, Ρώμη) are not just synonyms. They are different ways of existing. When a child learns to distinguish them, they learn — without even realizing it — to think clearly, to feel clearly, and to stand upright within the world.
🇬🇧 Stage 1 — Play with the Word
Give alternatives:
- fear → terror / anxiety / awe
- joy → delight / fulfillment / exaltation
👉 Ask:
Is it the same wave?
Or does the feeling change?
🇬🇧 Stage 2 — The Wave Flows Again
👉 “Now describe it again — without using a word.”
And they begin to notice:
- the feeling shifts
- the word influences it
- language shapes experience
✨ Platanian Closing
A feeling is born.
It swells.
It becomes a word.
And the word holds it — for a moment.
Then…
the wave continues.
